Long-haul trucker changes lanes to complete degree
Leroy Kirkendall finds path through C2C program to earn BUS.
With the Complete 2 Compete program, you can choose any of the degree programs offered at the University of Mississippi (http://catalog.olemiss.edu/programs). Many students choose the shortest path, which may be their original degree program or one of the two completion degrees available: the Bachelor of Multi-Disciplinary Studies or the Bachelor of University Studies. The number of degree applicable credits earned dictates for which program you may be eligible.
The Bachelor of Multi-Disciplinary Studies is a cross-disciplinary degree program offered to maximize opportunities for individuals to reach personal goals, meet job requirements, and advance their careers. It combines three minors and allows students to custom design a degree. A student must have at least 30 earned credit hours to be eligible for the Bachelor of Multi-Disciplinary Studies.
The Bachelor of University Studies degree program is designed to provide adult students with a flexible pathway to complete a baccalaureate degree. The program allows an individualized curriculum for a student to complete up to three emphasis areas that will position them favorably for advancement in their career goals. The degree requires a minimum of 90 degree applicable credits to be eligible with no more than 60 from a 2-year college. Students admitted to the Bachelor of University Studies degree program will have all previous F’s (transfer as well as in residence) removed from their GPA calculation.
Complete 2 Compete students are not required to major in either the Bachelor of Multi-Disciplinary Studies or the Bachelor of University Studies, but often these degrees represent the shortest path. Students can choose to major in their original degree program or any other degree program of their choice that is offered by the University of Mississippi (http://catalog.olemiss.edu/programs), provided they meet the admission requirements. Your C2C coach will be happy to have your records reviewed for the degree program of your choice and work with you to select the option that is best for you.
To properly review each C2C participant for degree program options, students will need to follow some simple steps.
Your records will then be reviewed for your choice of major and/or the shortest path to completion of a bachelor’s degree.
If you are a military services veteran or active military, we strongly encourage you to request a Joint Services Transcript at https://jst.doded.mil/official.html and have them send it to registrar@olemiss.edu. The University of Mississippi accepts a wide range of military training for academic credits. To see what training has already been assigned credit by the University, please visit https://transfer.olemiss.edu/transfer-equivalencies/schools/12361659/military_credit/.
Although the University of Mississippi does not currently have any online undergraduate degree programs, there are a variety of online courses and minors (See Bachelor of Multi-Disciplinary Studies). Online minors include entrepreneurship, professional writing, theater arts, psychology, sociology, gender studies, management information systems, English, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Providing an online program for completion depends heavily on the student’s academic goals and degree program.
