Speed Reading and Study Skillsa program in partnership with the Institute of Reading Development
The University of Mississippi, September, 2018
I really enjoyed learning about the different ways I was able to improve how fast I can read and still be able to comprehend the material.
I went in a skeptic, but now I can safely say I'm a much better reader! The program was life-changing and fully worth the cost.
I really enjoyed this reading program. The instructor made me feel comfortable. At first, I didn't want to take this program, because I thought that I might be embarrassed. I am so glad I did take the class. I feel better about my reading skills. Thank you!!
I honestly enjoyed this class. It helped a lot and I would recommend this class to a friend!
Program
We encourage you to enroll in the Fall Speed Reading and Study Skills program offered through the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education, Office of Professional Development and Lifelong Learning. In just two weekends, typical participants increase their effectiveness as both a reader and a student. You will be better equipped to manage your competing demands on your time.
Based on results from this program over the last two years and at other universities, this program teaches strategies for reading textbooks twice as fast and reading most non-fiction books, novels, and journal articles three time faster. Not only will a participant learn to read faster, but they will also learn to understand and retain this information better. In addition, this course will provide you with skills so you will be able to prepare for tests efficiently, without extensive rereading.
The Speed Reading and Study Skills program is taught in a two-weekend workshop format, in which students are coached through a series of skills and techniques. Instruction for this course is taught by professional instructors from the Institute of Reading Development, which has been teaching these classes for over 40 years. The Institute has provided instruction for the University of Mississippi, Division of Outreach and Continuing Education since 2016, and also teaches for many other leading universities and colleges.
Your enrollment includes free lifetime repeat privileges, honored at any of the universities or colleges that offer this program. With this lifetime repeat privilege you are entitled to return, at any time, in order to receive instruction in the specific techniques and strategies that are best suited to the material you are reading.
We only offer this class once per academic year. You are encouraged to register early by contacting the Institute of Reading Development at 1-800-418-7910.
