Faculty-led Programs

During summer and winter terms students are able to take advantage of unique courses offered by University of Mississippi faculty abroad. These courses vary from term to term but include language credits as well as University core requirements like English and history. Departments select professors and courses to offer abroad each term. Typically one professor and 10 students will travel together for 3 to 4 weeks as part of the course. In past semesters students have studied watercolor in London, music in Ghana, higher ed in Australia, and Spanish in Chile. There have also been English courses offered in London and Venice, and business courses offered in South Africa and Ireland. All classes are based on an ABCDF scale and students can receive 3 to 6 hours of credit per program.

Advantages: You can take 3 hours of credit in 3 weeks or 6 hours in 4 weeks while visiting a new country. Because courses are offered during winter and summer terms, you won’t miss any semester requirements – plus, spending time with a professor abroad may help you garner a good recommendation for graduate school or a job.
