Itinerary subject to change. Students should wait to make travel arrangements until after confirming dates and times with instructors.

Students will:

  • Spend 5 days in the nation’s capital learning about applied politics as it relates to political campaigns and elections
  • Visit partisan campaign offices, and meet with Democratic and Republican consultants and party operatives
  • Tour media outlets that cover campaigns and elections
  • Meet with interest group leaders
  • Learn about the parts and pieces of the political apparatus required to run a modern political campaign

Location:

Washington, DC
Students will need to be in Oxford on January 3rd and 4th, and will then travel to Washington, DC on January 5th or 6th for class running from January 7th until the 10th. Shared accommodations in Washington will be provided near Capitol Hill. Students will return to Oxford for additional class meetings times and dates TBD by the instructor.

Who should go?

Students majoring in Political Science, PPL, Sociology, and Psychology may find this course of interest.

Dates:

Students will meet in Oxford January 3rd and 4th, 2019 and will then travel to Washington, DC on January 5th or 6th. Students will be in Washington, DC from January 7th through the 10th for class, and will return on January 11th. Instructor may have additional class meeting days in Oxford after returning from Washington, DC.

Travel:

Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from Washington, DC. Ground transportation in DC will be provided.

Costs:

Course fee is $950. Included in the fee are housing, group ground transportation, and some group meals.  Excluded from the cost are the Study USA application fee, tuition, travel expenses to/from Washington, and personal spending money.
