
Filmmaking Workshop at Ole Miss

Micah Joseph Ginn will direct the ninth annual Filmmaking Workshop at the University of Mississippi July 6-9. Micah Ginn is an award-winning filmmaker-producer in the University’s Center for Documentary Projects and Media Production. The intensive four-day workshop is designed to introduce amateurs to both film appreciation and the actual techniques of filmmaking. Assisting Micah Ginn in direction of the workshop are Joe York and Matthew Graves, also award-winning producer/directors in the Center for Documentary Projects.
THE SCRIPT
The four-day workshop is a unique opportunity for high school students (freshman through seniors), college students, teachers, and all adults interested in filmmaking. The participants will be shown a variety of films that will showcase the elements of filmmaking discussed and applied throughout the course. Students of the workshop will be introduced to all aspects of the filmmaking process as they produce their own short film during the four-day class. From sound design to lighting, from camera operation to story-boards, participants will gain valuable practical experience in the art of filmmaking.

THE SHOOT
The workshop will be held at the Historical Oxford Depot adjacent to the University in Oxford and behind the Gertrude C. Ford Performing Arts Center on University Avenue. The Depot is a short walk from the Inn at Ole Miss. Participants will receive a detailed schedule and map of the area at registration.

The dates of the 2009 workshop are July 6-9. Pre-registration is required. The deadline to
to register is July 1.

Commuter: $325, includes only the workshop and manual

Dress is casual and comfortable throughout the workshop.
