MATH AND SCIENCE TEACHER CONFERENCE
Middle School and High School teachers will discover new, innovative and creative teaching methods, styles and
techniques to teaching Science and Math to middle school- and high school-level students. CEU credits (0.5 hrs)
will be made available for an extra fee of $20.

- Using the TI-Navigator in the Math/Science Classroom
Participants will explore using the TI-Navigator in math
and science. Instructor: Jenny Simmons
- Making Cents of Math: Linear Relationship between
Weight and Quantities
Participants will use the Vernier Lab Pro data collection
devices and a graphing calculator to complete an activity in
a lab setting. Instructor: Becky Padgett
- Differentiation at its Best!
Participants will engage in high-energy, small group mathematical
learning using inexpensive tools and resources.

- Teaching Geometry with TI-Cabri Jr.
Participants will explore uses of the TI-Cabri Jr. as a way of
teaching high school geometry. Instructor: Tammy Parham
- An Introduction to ALICE 3-D Software
Participants will be given a fun introduction to the computer
programming ALICE-3D. Instructor: Brenda Spearman
- How to Incorporate Multi-media Techniques in the
Biology Curriculum
Participants will be introduced to ways of incorporating
multi-media techniques into the science curriculum, including
how to involve student individuality. Instructor: Karen Irwin
- Educating Today for a Greener Tomorrow
Participants will learn the benefits of “going green,” familiarize
themselves with the devastating effects of not acting
quickly, and receive information that can be applied to the

- Chemistry Lab Swap
In this session, participants are asked to bring copies of their
favorite chemistry or physical science labs and activities to
share with group members. Instructor: Meisha Sparks
- Make Your Summers Productive
Participants will explore summer opportunities that will
enhance teaching of math, science, or technology and rejuvenate
your attitude about being an educator. Instructor:

- Using Mimio in the Math/Science Classroom
Participants will learn how to use the technology piece,

- Motivational Tools for the Learning of Mathematics!
Participants will be engaged in motivational activities that

- Geology and Its Importance in the Science Curriculum
Participants will learn of the fascinating world of geology
and how to incorporate ideas into the science classroom.

Participants who are considering certification will be given
information about mentoring. Instructor: Angela Doty
- Asking better questions AND getting better answers:
What’s a teacher to do?
With the emphasis on students developing a deeper understanding
of mathematics, questioning becomes an essential
part of any lesson. In this session, participants will gain
insight into how to develop better questions. In addition,
strategies for eliciting better student responses will be
shared. Connections to the curriculum framework will be

- Moving Mathematics
Transformational geometry is a topic in late elementary
grades and up. This session will explore motion geometry
with both rigid and non-rigid motions in motivating tasks.
Participants will have tasks that can be used in their classes
to take with them. Instructor: Barbara Dougherty
