CREDIT + SUMMER EXPERIENCE

Perfect for students who want to earn high school and college credit while experiencing life at UM. Programs mix classroom learning with hands-on activities and require in-person attendance. Enjoy faculty mentoring, field trips, and social and academic events on evenings and weekends.

For students who want a more immersive experience, we offer Summer College, a residential option where students can live on campus, interact with peers, and receive guidance from dedicated staff members. Residential students can enjoy life on our beautiful campus, giving them a safe and supervised preview of college.

Alternatively, for high school students in Oxford or Lafayette County, Mississippi, the Commuter Option is designed just for you! This program allows local students to participate in any Summer College program without the cost of on-campus housing, making it a budget-friendly choice while still offering a full college experience.

Residential Students

Before the program begins

Students will start receiving detailed information upon acceptance to the program. More details will be given in the online orientation session.

During the program

Students in Summer College take two college-level courses taught by University of Mississippi faculty, earning 6–7 transferable credit hours and building a college GPA. Courses follow university grading policies and appear on a permanent transcript. Outside the classroom, students participate in a residential co-curriculum that fosters independence, social skills, and community engagement through activities and service opportunities.

Highlights:

  • Experience college academics and earn transferable credits
  • Develop life skills while living independently and making lasting friendships
