Courses Tied to UM’s 60th Anniversary of Integration

Students will attend class on the Oxford campus in early May (dates TBD). Following campus coursework, students will travel independently to Chicago, meeting the group on May 19th to spend six days attending the National Restaurant Association Show. In addition to the show, students can also explore the city during free time and visit notable Chicago sites like The Art Institute of Chicago, The Field Museum, Chicago Architecture Foundation, Millennium Park, Adler Planetarium, and The Magnificent Mile. Class activities will end on Wednesday, May 24th.
This program is intended for hospitality management students and others interested in restaurants, design, marketing, and tourism. There are no prerequisites for this course.
Students will make their own travel arrangements to and from Chicago. Shared accommodations will be provided at a hotel near McCormick Place. Airfare can be billed to student bursar accounts by making arrangements through Amber Gregory at Travel Leaders, agregory@travelleaders.com, or 901-507-8463.
The Study USA program fee is $1,300 plus tuition. Included in the program fee are accommodation, admission to the NRA Show, and group dinners. Excluded from the program fee are tuition, some meals, airport transportation, airfare, and personal spending money.

Outreach Study USA Scholarship
The Outreach Study USA Scholarship supports student participation in Study USA courses. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $750 and are designed to help offset the additional expenses associated with academic travel.
Carolyn Ellis Staton Study USA Scholarship
The Carolyn Ellis Staton Study USA Scholarship was established to increase access to unique experiential learning programs. These scholarships will help to make engaging educational travel opportunities more accessible to students with financial need. Scholarship awards range from $250 to $750 and are designed to help offset the additional expenses associated with academic travel.
