Course Transferability Explained

Thinking about transferring to Ole Miss-Tupelo? You may have questions about how your previous coursework will transfer over. Let's break it down:

When you transfer to our campus, we want to make sure your previous coursework counts toward your degree here. Ole Miss-Tupelo partners with local community colleges to ensure your coursework transfers smoothly into an Ole Miss bachelor's degree program.

If you recently earned your associate's degree from a partnering community college, with course transferability, you can pick up right where you left off on your academic journey and continue pursuing your goals with Ole Miss.

How It Works

Evaluation

When you apply for admission, our admissions team evaluates your transcripts from previous colleges or universities. They'll determine which courses are eligible for transfer credit.

Before you begin the admissions process, you can use the Transfer Course Equivalencies tool to preview how your courses will transfer to the University of Mississippi. Search by institution or by course to see how each course is credited.

Course Equivalency

Your transferred courses may have direct equivalents at the University of Mississippi. This means the credits you earned will count toward your degree at our campus, saving you time and money.

Elective Credits

If your transferred courses don't have direct equivalents, they may still count as elective credits. These can fulfill general education requirements or contribute to your overall credit count for graduation.

Advising Support

Remember, every transfer situation is unique, and the specifics of course transferability can vary depending on factors like the institution you're transferring from and the program you're entering at our campus.

For the best guidance, schedule a short transcript review meeting with an admissions counselor for a personalized consultation where we’ll:

  1. Review your transcript, clarify how your credits will transfer, and guide you through the entire process to help you with a timely graduation.
  2. Answer questions about financial aid, admissions, and program requirements.
