The Grove Scholars initiative supports Mississippi students pursuing STEM or health-related careers by providing academic and career exploration opportunities.

UMIE works with these scholars by providing internship exploration, preparation, and support opportunities during their junior or senior years, as well as additional financial support to offset the expenses of internship participation.

Provost Scholars are encouraged to engage in network-building activities with peers, faculty, and deans, including participation in career and internship opportunities through the University's broader resources. These benefits help scholars make the most of their degrees and prepare for professional success​. 

One such benefit is the Provost Scholars Professional Pathway, which incorporates a professional development bootcamp, specialized Study USA travel classes, and a full year of internship guidance through UMIE. 

The UM Career Center plays a pivotal role in connecting students with professional resources including career fairs, employer meet-and-greets, and a career closet, providing professional attire to UM students at no cost. 

UMIE students gain additional exposure to career paths and prospective employers through Career Center programming, and the center director is the featured presenter at our annual professional etiquette dinner.
