Frequently Asked Questions
Can I transfer credits into the Ole Miss campus MBA Program?
Students may apply for up to six hours in transfer credit for courses that closely match those in our program. Per Graduate School regulations, the transfer request cannot be done until 15 credits have been completed in the Ole Miss MBA. The application can be found online. Both the MBA program and the Graduate School must approve the request.

Are there specific requirements for international applicants?
International students are encouraged to find an overview of the Application Process and to read the international admission page. We do encourage early applications (complete at least six months in advance of the anticipated start date) to allow offices on campus enough time to review all foreign credentials.
If admitted, it will also take time for the study visa to be obtained. Minimum required English language proficiency exam score(s) if you did not earn your undergraduate degree in the U.S. (Citizens of countries on the exemption list and students who graduated from institutions in those countries are not required to submit scores.)
Do you require prerequisites?
The Intro to Accounting and Business Finance (not personal finance) prerequisites may be taken at any regionally accredited college or university. You may apply prior to taking the prerequisites, but you will not be able to enroll in MBA courses until you have successfully completed those courses with a C or higher and the MBA program can verify with final official transcripts. Please see our Admissions page for further details on taking the pre requisite courses with The University of Mississippi.
Do you require entrance exams?
The GMAT or GRE is waived for: Students with an overall GPA of 3.5 (or higher) or a GPA of 3.5 (or higher) on the most recent 60 hours of coursework. The GMAT or GRE is required for all students who wish to be considered for a graduate assistantship.
Applicants for the online MBA program with 5+ years of post-graduate work experience may qualify for a test waiver. If you think you might meet this requirement, contact Amy Johnson to confirm details.
Where do I send transcripts?
Please send official undergraduate transcripts for application directly to the Graduate School.

Overview of the Application Process
Do you offer non-degree or conditional admission where I could take MBA courses prior to being admitted?
Only admitted students are eligible to take MBA courses.
If I enroll in the campus program and then subsequently obtain a job, can I swap to the online MBA program?
On a very limited basis, students are permitted to transfer from the campus MBA program into the online MBA program. Please meet with Ashley McGee, MBA Director, to further discuss and advise. We are happy to review on a case by case scenario. This also applies to students in the online program who wish to transfer to the campus program.
If I do not have an assistantship with the business school, what are my options?
On-Campus students can reach out to the Graduate School for any additional scholarships or assistantships in other areas on campus. There are no assistantships available for the Online program due to the face-to-face component of working within the Business School.
My GPA is high and I have great references, but my test score is very low. Will I be admitted?
While the Admission Committee considers the entire application, if your GMAT or GRE equivalent is below a 485, we recommend that you retake the exam in order to be competitive for admission. If you plan to retake the exam, please contact Mrs. Amy Johnson at ajohnson@bus.olemiss.edu so that your application will not be reviewed until your new score arrives. If you retake the exam, you must adhere to the deadline to be eligible to the term for which you applied.
