Proctoring Policies
Choosing a Proctor
Students will need to make testing arrangements with a proctor/supervisor. All proctors/supervisors must be pre-approved by UMHS. To have your proctor/supervisor pre-approved, please submit a Proctor Request Form to the UMHS office.
Proctors/supervisors are responsible for maintaining test security, establishing testing conditions, proctoring exams, and submitting completed test authenticity forms to the school office.
The most acceptable choice for a supervisor or proctor is a person currently employed at any level as an educator. The person could be a teacher, counselor, administrator, principal, librarian, or extension educator. Other acceptable choices include public librarians or local clergy.
Proctors should contact the office immediately at 662-915-1296 if they didn't receive the proctoring instructions or have questions about their responsibilities.
Additional Proctoring Options
Distance Education Testing Lab
Students who reside close to a University of Mississippi campus are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a proctored exam at either the Oxford, Booneville, Desoto, Grenada, or Tupelo campus Distance Education Testing Lab (DETL). Visit UM Online Testing to make an appointment.
Please note: All testing centers will be closed on holidays in accordance with the University of Mississippi holiday schedule. The DETL will be closed to UMHS students during UM midterm and final exams.
Online Proctoring Options
Students who have a webcam installed and are unable to test at a DETL site should consider taking exams using an online proctoring service, which may require an additional fee. For more information on the proctoring services available, contact the UMHS office.
Note: Students must complete all assignments prior to taking the Final Exam in a course. Any incomplete assignments prior to taking the final will receive a grade of zero. Additionally, students may not take more than one proctored exam per course per day.
