Summer College for High School Students
About Summer College
This program immerses students in activities and experiences that closely resemble college life, equipping them with the social, personal, and academic skills necessary for future success.
Students benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, recreation areas, and study rooms, all situated on one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. Through this blend of learning and exploration, high school students can better define their career interests and discover their future paths.
Summer College consists of two main components:
- Academic courses available to both commuters and residential students, and
- Co-curricular activities available only to residential students.
Local Oxford and Lafayette County students are invited to join us in Summer College as commuters, taking courses during the day with our outstanding faculty and receiving the same tuition benefit as our residential students. Local students wishing to apply for residential status may do so within the program application.
Academic Courses
Students take two college-level courses taught by University of Mississippi faculty. Students may choose from courses that are open to the general college population as well as courses with specialized content available only to high school students in our selective academic tracks.
These courses are taught and graded following University guidelines at the discretion of departments and professors. Grades earned in these courses will be recorded in the participant’s permanent college transcript. Learn more about grading.
