Credit Programs
Residential Living for Summer Programs
Housing
Residential students live on-campus in double-occupancy rooms with private bathrooms. Each floor has a kitchen with a sink, microwave, and vending machines. Students share rooms with peers from the same program, but private rooms may be requested for an additional cost, based on availability.
Meals
Students receive a meal plan with swipes for The Dish and Rebel Market, plus a cash allowance for the Ole Miss Student Union and other campus vendors. Since some activities are off-campus, weekend meals are not included.
Co-curricular events and other activities (weekday and weekend) may feature catered meals not allocated as part of the total meal plan.
Co-Curriculum
Our residential credit programs include a co-curriculum designed to help students transition to college life. Activities such as social mixers, workshops, campus tours, and volunteer opportunities foster friendships, academic growth, and life skills. Students are grouped into smaller communities for a more personal experience. Participation in these activities is mandatory for program completion.
Weekend Activities
Students participate in weekend trips and events, like visits to the Oxford Square, museums, excursions to Memphis, and community service projects. Some activities require pre-registration to ensure compliance with supervision ratios and transportation arrangements.
Activities may be adjusted based on weather or availability. Substitutes will be provided if needed.
Going home for the weekend
Students must remain on campus during the weekend unless approved to leave for family emergencies or unavoidable commitments. A parent or guardian must submit a Leave Request Form 48 hours in advance for weekend departures.
Designated Departure and Return Times:
Departure: Fridays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. or 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Return: Sundays, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Health and Safety
Student safety is our top priority. Programs are supervised by background-checked staff who live in the same facilities as the students. Students have access to the campus Health Center during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), and emergency care is available after hours.
Getting to the University of Mississippi
The University is in Oxford, Mississippi, about 75 miles southeast of Memphis, TN. The closest major airport is Memphis International Airport. Students must arrange their own travel to and from campus.
Bringing your car to campus
Students can bring cars but may only drive them for weekend trips home. A parking pass from the Department of Parking and Transportation is required.
Shuttles
Our office offers a shuttle service (students only) to and from Memphis International Airport on official arrival and departure days for $80 one way. Requests must be made at least 15 days in advance by emailing precollege@olemiss.edu.
Students traveling with parents must request a shuttle through the Outreach Event and Services office.
