Consulting with an ID

Consultation Overview

One-on-one consultations focus on a problem or topic for discussion and typically last 30 minutes to an hour. Consults are conducted mostly via Zoom or in-person.

Example Consultation Process for Designing a New Online Course

  1. Initial meeting
    Course planning: format, expectations, student needs, challenges and learning barriers; establish timeline
  2. Course design discussion
    Syllabus development: learning objectives, assessments, active learning and learner engagement, course structure & outline, content organization & chunking, media planning, learning tools selection
  3. Course development discussion
    course material selection and creation, video recording, available tools for content creation, tool tips, accessibility requirements
  4. Course building in Blackboard
    using and customizing course template, posting course materials, course navigation and consistency, gradebook set up, audio transcription and video captioning, Ally course accessibility score
  5. Course launch
    enabling Blackboard, activating Ultra, copying course, dates and availability settings

New instructors are introduced to their assigned ID through newsletters and information sent after completing the Online Teaching Endorsement course, but you may reach out as soon as you know you will teach online.
